Map of The Law of Blue Silk

In book one of The Drowning Series, we don't read a lot about Llaninwyn but it is still a very central part of the landscape. A few places I thought of when writing Llaninwyn were Corfe, York, Canterbury and Cambridge amongst many others.

Morgol, The Beast Slayers Academy is to the south. It is positioned on a beautiful island by the same name.

Inspiration for the aesthetics of the building are owed to The Wallace Collection in London and Audley End House in Essex.

Amonos is the magical volcanic region. It is the home to the Amonos phoenix in the centre but it is also home to both the Amonos leopards, fire foxes and the black bears like Jaze that we read about in the novel. The Amonos bats are also found within this region. Lowan has to battle through these unique animals in the tunnel to to centre.

The Lava river is shown on the Map. It is ancient and magical in it's own right, put there by the gods long before the drowning.

Amonos is inspired largely by the Snowdonia national park in North wales.

Therosin encompasses both the Lake, the city below, the adjoining mountains and the sea surrounding.

It is based largely on Welsh folklore and is the centre inspiration for the entire novel. The lake and mountain that inspired this part of the novel can be found in Brecon Beacons Nation Park.
