My Story
I am Eboni, and yes, Eboni Ocean Sky is my real name. I was born in a little town called Tiptree in Essex, England. My author journey was probably different from other peoples. I never sat around and thought 'one day i will be an author'. In fact, it never crossed my mind. This could be because i have dyslexia and so writing wasn't necessarily easy for me growing up. I found it hard to concentrate and get all the right words together. Apparently, according to my editor, i still find that hard. What I did have was a love for day- dreaming and stories that weren't like the real world. I read Harry Potter, The Tail of Emily Windsnap, The Twins at St. Clare's... I had a vibrant love for escapism and a deeply romantic heart. I loved music and sang every day, the lyrics the most important part. I adored, and still adore, Valentines day. Rom-Coms... Notting hill and The Vicar of Dibley, Bridget Jones... basically just Richard Curtis! For as long as I can remember I have kept a notes app in my phone where i write down poems and romance quotes. I suppose authorship was always in there. The law of Blue Silk... not so much.

At 18 i got married and had my daughter at twenty-one. As it goes with much of my life, things didn't work out the way i had wanted. So, my daughter and i started a journey on our own. I went back to school, doing a foundation degree in humanities. From there, i went back to university part-time and i am now four years into my English Literature and Creative writing Degree, always hopeful to study more romance.

It's funny how things have a way of moving you in the right direction. Around two years ago i was given a task at university to write a short story based on folklore. I am incredibly blessed to have a best friend who lives in the Welsh valleys. I have spent a lot of time exploring there and have completely fallen in love with it. So, Welsh folklore was the option for me. I wrote a short, 1500 word story about a city under a lake and moved on with my life.

I was a mum, doing mum things. Surviving covid alongside my Mum, who was a huge help in keeping my sanity. I grew tomatoes for absolutely no reason at all and I read. I read The Mortal Instruments, ACOTAR, Forth Wing. I re-read Harry Potter. I fell in love with romance again, Elsie Silver and Hannah Grace. I revisited classic literature; Jane Austen, Mary Shelley, even Shakespeare! I was blessed through my degree to be exposed to so many great and diverse novels but fantasy always held a special spot in my heart.

And then... Life happened again, as it so often does. In the chaos of the aftermath of love, i was left not knowing what to do and so i wrote.

I wish that I could say that I remember the day that The Law of Blue Silk came to life but i don't. Knowing myself though, I must have stumbled back onto that short story about a drowned city and just... began. It wasn't called The Law of Blue Silk then. It was called 'The Drowning'. One thing i do know is that the first line I wrote remains the first line of the novel...

'It is whispered throughout Llaninwyn...'

Now, I'm still a messy mum. Still love classical literature. Still have my music too loud and sing every day. I still love visits to south Wales to see my friends and I'm still a hopeless romantic. Now, I write. I work on my novels and strangely, I publish them too.
I sincerely hope that you love every minute of The Law of Blue Silk,

Eboni O. S.
